Procedure for Stamping of Degrees/Awards

Stamping / Authentication of Degrees or other Awards.

Degrees and awards granted by Higher Education Institutions as listed below can be stamped/authenticated by the Department of Education and Skills. Awards made by private colleges cannot be stamped by the Department and should be referred to the relevant accrediting body, e.g. QQI.

Before the award can be stamped, the Department will need verification from the University/Institute concerned in relation to the award - name of graduate, student number, details of the award.

Due to data protection regulations, this information can only be released by the institution to the Department at the request of the student. The student should request the institution to e-mail this information to .

When this information has been received the student should contact the Department by phone or e-mail to arrange a time to call to the Department offices in Marlborough Street to have the award stamped.

The same procedure will apply where a student requires a letter (eg. statement of results) to be stamped. A copy of the letter must be e-mailed to the Department from the institution before the original can be stamped.

The Department offices are located in Marlborough Street Dublin 1, D01 RC96 and the service is available from 9.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
