School self-evaluation (SSE) is a collaborative, reflective process of internal school review. It provides teachers with a means of systematically looking at how they teach and how pupils learn and helps schools and teachers to improve outcomes for learners.
To support schools as they engage in SSE, the Department has published School Self-Evaluation Guidelines for Primary Schools and School Self-Evaluation Guidelines for Post-Primary Schools. These guidelines, and other documents, are also available at www.schoolself-evaluation.ie, a dedicated website which has been set up to provide further support for schools.
