Sports Capital Programme
SPORTS CAPITAL PROGRAMME AND SCHOOLS
The Sports Capital Programme (SCP) is managed by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and provides grants to assist in the development of sports facilities and the provision of sports equipment throughout the country. Grants are available to sports clubs, voluntary and community groups, national governing bodies of sport and local authorities. As with previous rounds of the programme, third level colleges, ETBs and schools may also apply for funding so long as they do so jointly with sports clubs. In relation to proposed developments on land owned by the Minister for Education and Skills, an agreement has been reached between the Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Tourism Transport and Sport to also allow these schools apply. At application stage these schools must use the template at Appendix 5a of the guide to making an application to obtain written permission from the Department of Education and Skills to develop the proposed facilities. In order to allow sufficient time for appraisal the Department of Education & Skills may require up to 4 weeks to assess the proposed development in advance of submitting the application online.
All applications must be made online on www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie and schools must be registered on that site before they can make an application. The application period runs from Friday 7th September to Friday 19th October.
