Major Projects School Building Work Programme 2015

On the 18th December 2014, the Minister announced details of 70 school projects scheduled for construction in 2015. A €2.2 billion five-year capital investment programme launched in March 2012, gave details of 275 new major building projects to begin over the period 2012-2016. In 2013, details of a further 28 major school projects were announced to proceed to tender and construction.  The announcement on 18th December 2014 includes 16 further school projects that will replace inadequate educational infrastructure and provide much needed additional capacity to meet demographic need.

Details of the progress of all major projects listed in the five year construction plan will be updated on the Department's website regularly.

Investing in Infrastructure & Jobs Package 2013

On 05 June 2013 the Minister announced details of the "Investing in Infrastructure & Jobs" Package which will enable 18 primary schools and 10 post-primary schools to be replaced or refurbished to provide state-of-the-art classrooms and facilities for over 12,000 students. The 28 schools are in addition to the 275 major school building projects announced in March 2012 under the Five Year Plan. The schools that will be replaced or refurbished have completed extensive architectural planning already and can progress quickly to tender and construction.
