Advancing School Autonomy in Ireland
Public Consultation: Advancing School Autonomy in Ireland
The 2011 Programme for Government included a number of commitments regarding increasing the say of schools, parents and communities in the running of schools.
The Department of Education and Skills is progressing the implementation of these commitments. As part of this process, the Department has carried out extensive research on the issue of school autonomy. The key findings and conclusions of that research are contained in Advancing School Autonomy in Ireland: Research Paper.
The Department invited views from all interested parties on the issue of school autonomy. The views submitted are available to view here. A Consultation Paper, was prepared, which was designed to facilitate a deep discussion on why, how and in what circumstances greater school autonomy could be advanced in Ireland.
