EGF Supporting Redundant Workers
European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF)
The Andersen Ireland jewellery manufacturing plant in Rathkeale Co. Limerick with a 171 strong workforce (68% female) closed in late 2013. Under the EU co-funded Andersen Ireland EGF programme which ran from May 2014 to May 2016, occupational guidance, education, training and enterprise supports and related allowances and course expenses were taken up by 138 redundant workers (100% of those targeted) and 136 young persons Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) persons (99% of the target of 138).
The Lufthansa Technik Airmotive Ireland aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Rathcoole, Co Dublin closed between late 2013 and mid-2014 with some 424 workers being made redundant. The EU co-funded EGF programme ran from September 2014 to September 2016. The EGF final report on programme activity is being prepared for submission to the European Commission in March 2017.
