15 October, 2017 - Statement from the Department of Education and Skills - Weather Warning

Bus Éireann have informed the Department that School Transport Scheme Services operated by the company in Cork, Kerry, Clare, Mayo & Galway will not operate on Monday the 16th of October due to Met Eireann's Status Red weather warning.

Ensuring the safety of children, teachers and all those who work in schools is of the utmost importance to the Department.

There are clear guidelines for schools in the event of a status-red weather alert concerning wind. These guidelines advise schools in the affected area/s are advised to consider remaining closed. School managers are advised to remain vigilant, and keep themselves appraised of any updates from Met Eireann, the Garda Siochana, and other relevant response agencies.

School transport services are expected to resume in the affected counties on Tuesday, as Met Eireann have advised that a status red alert ends at 3:00 on October 17.
