19 November, 2014 - Minister for Education and Skills Jan O’Sullivan TD, appoints Richard Langford as new Chairperson of Waterford Institute of Technology
The Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan, today appointed Mr. Richard Langford as the new Chairperson of Waterford Institute of Technology.
Commenting on the appointment, Minister O’Sullivan stated, “I am delighted that Richard Langford will be the new Chairperson of Waterford Institute of Technology. Richard has dedicated his professional life to education and his experience and skills will be of great benefit to WIT.”

Richard Langford was born and raised in Waterford City, where he was educated at De La Salle College.
A qualified teacher and former principal, he was appointed the Principal of Waterford RTC when it was established in 1970. Four years later, he was promoted to the post of CEO of Waterford City, and later served for 27 years as CEO of the City of Cork VEC.
When the first Governing Body of the University of Limerick was established in 1975, he was appointed to that body.
He has also served as Chairman of the NQAI, and of the Education Finance Board.
He has been Chair of the State Examinations Commission since 2006.
