Minister for Youth Affairs, Síle de Valera, T.D., this evening launched the new website for the City of Dublin Youth Service Board (CDYSB) in the Mansion House.
Launching the website, Minister de Valera said "CDYSB has been one of the principal organisations at the heart of Dublin's Youth Services for many years. The current youth services provided by the Board are indeed extensive and can be accessed by a range of different methods. The new website is a way for anyone to find information on their programmes and activities".
The CDYSB website possesses powerful search facilities enabling the user to identify registered groups and projects within their geographical area of interest. The site maintains a freshness through dynamic calendars, images and easy visual access to news and events.
"Increased funding amounting to €47 million in 2006 is testament to the Government's commitment to youth work. The funding will provide for the continued development of Youth Work Services and Programmes and will facilitate the further roll-out of the Youth Work Act, 2001 and the National Youth Work Development Plan" said Minister de Valera.
The Minister concluded by thanking Mary Mooney, Director, CDYSB, the staff, youth workers and volunteers for their contribution to youth work and said "we are particularly fortunate that youth work in Ireland has such a strong ethos of volunteerism, with so many adults and youth leaders giving their time and effort freely in the provision of services with, and for, young people."
The website sets out to facilitate 24 hour access and communication between youth work services and the CDYSB. The website is not just designed for registered users of CDYSB services. It is also aimed at the wider population who have an interest in youth work provision and developments.
