Pensions Estimator

Pensions Estimator (also known as a Pensions Modeller)

The Department of Education is pleased to advise that there is now a Pension Estimator (or Modeller) available for school staff who receive salary directly from this Department and are in membership of a pension scheme (subject to certain limitations which are detailed on the Modeller application).

As school staff it will allow you to get an estimate of your potential retirement benefits based on the salary and service details you enter.

The estimator (modeller) can estimate: pension benefits at retirement age preserved benefits (payable at retirement age) if you resign your post before reaching retirement age.

Cost Neutral Early Retirement benefits payable before retirement age.

The estimator (Modeller) can also determine if you have insufficient service to retire on a proposed date.

Given the complexities of pension calculations, the estimator (Modeller) is not capable of calculating all types of pensions which may be payable by this Department.

It is best suited to staff who have large blocks of uninterrupted service.

We hope the estimator (Modeller) will be a useful tool in assisting you as you review your pension entitlements, the Department requests that all applicants for statements begin the process by using the estimator (Modeller).

For school staff who are members of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme, your pension calculator (modeller) is available from the following link:

We encourage you to use the pension estimator (modeller) and we welcome your feedback.

Please email your feedback to with “Estimator Feedback” in the subject line.
