Under the EU Directives for the Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications, provisions are made whereby Professionals qualified in one (home) Member State can seek professional recognition of their qualifications in another (host) Member State for the purpose of practising their profession in that host Member State. These Directives apply only where the profession is regulated in the host Member State i.e where the practice of the profession is confined by law, regulation or administrative procedure to persons who hold specific qualifications, or registration/recognition from a specific competent authority or professional body.
There are relatively few regulated professions in Ireland List of regulated professions, their competent authorities, and contact details.
If the profession you wish to practice is not regulated then you do not require professional recognition in order to work in Ireland. That is a matter for a prospective employer. You can seek advice on such qualifications from the Irish NARIC
If you qualified in an un-regulated profession in Ireland and you are travelling to a Member State where that profession is regulated you may require a "Certificate of Experience".
If you require academic recognition in order to further your studies in Ireland, you should contact the Irish NARIC
EU Directives are transposed into Irish law mainly by means of a Statutory Instrument. EU Directives and Statutory Instruments.
